alright im looking into some LCD TV's, and was wondering since not all of these tv's have DVI connections, if the S-VIDEO connection would be satisfactory quality for use as a PC monitor?

S-video would be crappy for PC hookup to an HDTV.

DVI to HDMI would probably work, but if you had a 1368x768 resolution LCD TV, you would only be able to get your PC resolution to 1280x720 because of the HDMI limitations.

the thing is they have the tv i want at best buy, but it lacks the DVI input, while i could get one with a DVI, i would have to order it online and returning it for replacement then is more costly and a hassle. So if i can get this one and just use the adapter that saves me time, money, and makes replacement much easier.

Westinghouse LTV-32w6 HD
it's 799 at best buy, and i'll have to get the extended warranty, because i know it's either gonna break or have something wrong with it, so might as well pay a few extra.

Check out avsforum.com and do a search for the LTV-32w6 and see if anyone else has posted opinions on it.

You could probably use the VGA input for your PC and get the native 1368x768 resolution, but the DVI to HDMI 1270x720 might not look too bad (but it will be scaled).

Do a little more research on avsforum and make sure what I'm saying works.

As others said vga is the way to go with a lot of lcd tvs. hdmi to dvi is the next way to go. In theory the dvi/hdmi should give a better pic but some lcd tvs don't support as many res over it.

well my video cards don't have vga, but i have a couple DVI-VGA adapters lying around. Worse case i try the DVI-HDMI adapter, if i don't like it, return it say it's faulty.
