Hi everyone,
Well, sent my HP L2335 monitor back to the warehouse and am facing a rather lengthy wait for a replacement from them (Oct. 13th availability), and in the interim they've refunded the $2700CDN it cost.
So, money doing what it naturally does in my pocket, I've started to cast my eye on to some of the LCD TVs on the market. I found that I appreciated the HP more for it's widescreen characteristics, and used it almost exclusively as a movie watching / gaming device as opposed to serious work--which I did on my attached monitor.
Thus, the low (1200x768 or so) resolutions on the LCD TVs aren't necessarily a negative, especially given the prospect of gaining up to 7" on the screen for the same price as the HP.
Two models in particular have caught my eye, although they haven't received many accolades here on the Forum :
Sharp AQUOS 26"-30" models - generally considered by most of the websites I visited as a quality piece of kit, and one that is available from CostCo and their outstanding return policies in case of difficulty (HP has left me a little touchy.. heh..)
Syntax Olevia LT30HV - big screen at a very cheap price, and has been positively reviewed elsewhere as well, though CNet came out and slammed it pretty hard--not that there's much stock in that.
As usual, I have the most faith in the die[h]ards here on the Forum, so if anyone has had any personal (or related) experience on either of these, or similar, screens please let me know. I'm running out of pockets in pants for this cash to burn through.
