LCD TV viewing distance

Hello,

The distance from the place where I sit and my future LCD TV screen is 8.2 feet (89.40 inch or 2.50 meters).
I was thinking to get a 42 inch screen but different LCD TV guides say that this is a too large screen for 8.2 feet and they suggest a 32 inch being the ideal size for such a viewing distance. According to these guides a 37 inch screen would not be ideal but still be OK.

What do you think?
Thank you very much in advance

Those viewing distance charts are retarded. I sit about 3 feet away from my 42" when gaming -- any closer and I'd see noticeable screen door effect. I sit back on the couch about 6 feet away when watching movies and the screen looks tiny. 65" would be about right for me at that distance. Actually, the whole freakin wall would be about the right size.

Go into a store and look at some actual TVs from different distances and decide what works for you.

I have a 42" and I sit about 10 feet away.......When I move in closer I do notice a weaker picture....I guess you have to take the quality of the set into consideration...........

I have a 32" that I sit about 10 ft from an it is great for movies, tv. But I game at about 4ft away and it could be bigger.

I sit a little over 6 feet away from my 40" tv and surf the web, play games, and watch movies (mouse and keyboard cords run under a throw rug).

You honestly think 65" tv would be IDEAL at 6 feet? I mean hell, I'd love a 100" tv, but ideal? And at 1080p? You'd hafta be blind not to notice that your pixels are suddenly snes size.
