Hello there, I have grown to like the idea of having a screen in the case for hardware temperature readings, and there is obviously many ways to do this. But I REALLY don't want to use a HDMI video output from the GPU to drive the screen which seems to be the standard for all the methods I have seen. I know you can put an android phone in there and connect it to wifi but I actually don't use wifi, I'm all wired, so thats not an option for me either.

I actually like the method Lian Li has done in the Uni FAN TL LCD Fan https://lian-li.com/product/uni-fan-tl-lcd/ Obviously its an insane gimmick, but it is using usb data to provide bandwidth to the screen, which seems very similar in concept to "displaylink". This is how I would like to do it. I do not mind using power from the PSU to power the screen as they have done, I just really don't want it setup as a traditional multi-monitor setup in windows and have to use a video output from my GPU.

Is their anyway to do such a thing ? I would like a screen that can be setup entirely internally in the case. Display bandwidth via USB, essentially a "usb videocard", and powered either by a connection to the PSU or by USB power. Any help appreciated.
 
Next motherboard you buy keep an eye out for an "eDP" video-connector.

Those are made for internal video and power transport.

I use one on my bench with an asrock side panel 13.3 kit. Nothing special

That screen looks great, I wouldn't mind slightly bigger but that is exactly the style I am looking for. Thanks for the links. Also, I'm in the process of making a new build this month, so my motherboard options are open, I'll try and get a mobo that can be easily configured for usb-c compatibility with a screen like this..

I'm not even familiar with this connector at all, sounds like it would be perfect for what I'm looking to do, I will look into that as well, thank you.
