LCD Questions

I have been going through a few lcd monitors looking for the right one.
First I started off with a Dell 1704FPV but that turned out to be just plain horrible.
Bad 'ghosting' or whatever you want to call it when scrolling through webpages and was generally unlikeable while doing desktop type stuff. In gaming it was fine, but i hardly game and that won't be its main use. So i returned it and just got a brand new Viewsonic VP171b-2, the 8ms panel. Well things look great, except in movies. It looks pure ugly. Makes even hdtv stuff look bad. I was under the assumption that when they stated it was 'hdtv ready' it should look good. Very 'blotchy' and pixelated. Basically it made my old Dell 15" 1503fp look good. Is this common? What monitor might not give me so much trouble.
I want to try a samsung 17" as they are supposed to be the best and all, but they have no money back guarantee like this viewsonic and the dell had. Am i being too pickey?
Take a look(Warning 1.5mb pics)
HDTV Xvid rip of 'Las Vegas' as seen on the viewsonic
Same xvid seen on the viewsonic and the dell 15"
The dell is analogue while the viewsonic is DVI
all settings are optimal for each monitor.
And just for comparision, here is a dvi vs analogue on the viewsonic
analogue vs dvi

Someone give me some adivce please.

which samsung are you gonna try?? you're going for gaming monitors which are generally pretty bad in movies. Try this monitor . I read a review from anandtech.com on it and there shouldn't be any ghosting and since it's a pva panel, movies should look much better.

not quite sure what samsung i'll get. They always seem to be referred to as the best and have always looked quite nice to me. I need to check out what they currently offer.
