The Story: Last night, I spilled a glass of water upon my desk. None of it touched the LCD screen, but it went beneath the stand. It was picked up, cleaned, and the computer was used for a couple of hours with no display issues or anything of the sort. It was then turned off for the night.

This afternoon, I arrived home and turned on my computer. Immediately, I noticed two small half-circles of white/seemingly-stuck pixels on the bottom half of the screen. After about ten minutes of use, the left side of the screen suddenly attained a goodly-sized of dark and multi-colored pixels. I can...'move' these up and down if I gently touch or press against them, strangely.

I don't believe any water had touched the screen, which is why I find this odd. Especially the pixels on the left side, because some of them are as far as a foot off of the desk, and on the opposite side of where I keep my glasses, where there should be /no/ way water could have touched it regardless. As well, they didn't exist for the first ten minutes of usage today, and seemed to 'suddenly' appear, for I only noticed them a ways into working.

Nonetheless, I fear I might have no recourse but to get a new monitor...yet felt I might as well ask here to see if anyone might have any suggestions as to what is up or how to fix it.

Edit: Ah-ha! Something to make note of. I recall that, upon turning my computer on for the first time this afternoon, some beeping seemed to be coming from somewhere. Assuming it was an issue with the new fan/heatsink I installed, I swiftly turned the PC off and checked it...but it seemed fine. Upon turning it on again, the beeping did not occur. I believe the beeping was coming from the monitor, not the PC! It wasn't a steady sound at all, but a seemingly random, high-pitched noise..

As well, the LCD in question is a BenQ G2400WD.

I'd test that monitor on a different PC before spending any money.

I'd also try a different monitor on your current PC and let it run for at least 30 minutes before making any judgement.

Trying both methods will help narrow down the problem, you can then proceed from there.

Good luck either way.

Haven't tested the monitor on a different PC yet...but tested an older monitor on this PC, and that one works fine.
