LCD prices set to fall

Uhm, for any1 who studies economics, the path from cost to price is long and unpredictable. :D

Hmm... Spent 780$ for VP201b... Maybe it will cost 600 soon... :(

Dare situation... Anyhow... I was in need of new monitor, anyway. Old LG 795FT gone to parents. :)

If they fall significantly I'm definitely going to retire my BenQ 937s for a Dell fpw2405 or Apple 23" cinema Display.

i got a benq fp937s. looking to get a new moniter for duel display. but i just cant see myself spending, what is it, $800 for the 2405? looking to get 1905, 2001, or 2005. cant decide. or is there something better for tv and games?

Wow, this is pretty much common sense. LCD prices have already fallen, dramatically. PC parts as a whole, drop in price pretty fast.

If this were to happen, then I foresee a lot of smaller LCD manufacturers going bankrupt. Profit margins are already small the way things are now.

Note that the article says the cost of making LCDs will go down 62%. It doesn't say retail prices will follow suit.

Since there are mainly 3 major LCD manufacturers in this market--LG Philip, Samsung, and Benq. It is hard to see there is a crash in the LCd price, a gradual drop, but not a crash. Look at the stock price of LG philip, it doesn't suggest any profit issue.

I already bought good monitor... Excellent. If tomorrow this monitor will cost 1$, for example, this will have good and bad sides. Good is that I will be able to buy another one panel... Bad is that, in most cases, quality will drop down.

People buy stocks for reasons other than current profits, so citing the stock price as proof of profit margin is misleading, especially since LG could always have a bad quarter. Get ahold of the company's financial reports instead of their stock price.
