I have noticed LCD prices are steadily climbing in the past 6 months. Whats going on? Is it as simple as supply and demand or is it something else?
 
yes, its supply and demand as far as I can tell. From what I heard around christmas (where ppl were expecting drops in prices, but actually size rising prices) the demand for LCD and Plasma TVs was very high. For the most part, the makers of the LCD and Plasma panels rank TV panels a higher priority then Monitor panels (why? I don't know, profit maybe? demand? cost??) Due to this most of the resources were invested into making more TV panels, thus there was and still is less Monitor panels available on the market, less product = higher cost.
