LCD monitors for gaming.

Seriously what is with this statement, that's like saying "Anyone with a ball mouse or a trackball isn't a serious gamer"

I know plenty of people who still use ball mice and swear by them for the same pointless reasons, they feel they are more accurate. I don't get all bent out of shape about it, I simply prefer an optical. I used to use a CRT, if my comp was home, and CRTs lasted longer to justify the cost, I would prolly still use one only for gaming, but my LCD does what I want.

Honestly how many people take there $1,000 LCD's to LAN partys. and the real estate claim is a bunch of crap to ,what exactly do people put BEHIND there monitors? because thats the only extra real estate you get with an LCD. I dont know of any 23" LCD's with excellent repsonse times either ,the best so far is the 24" 2405FPW and even that one has motion blur. Color accuracy is getting a lot better on LCD but they still cant touch a good CRT's contrast ratio / black level performance wich is VERY important to overall picture quality.

uhm... think what you will - I take my 23" around with me to any gaming event... I mean, why have such awesome light weight real estate and not bring it? Yeah, it's expensive, but it's just stuff, and they will make more of it. lol. Plus, I saw s**t ton of 2405s at the Nvidia LAN in SF (7800GTX launch party) so you know not of what you say. Also, the real estate to which I speak of is completely valid. I have my desk facing inward into the back of my living room and it would look like ass whith two hulking CRTs on it... plus I would have no room to do bills, etc... isn't that uhm, sort of the point to a desk? hmmm... and I have decorations and such behind my monitors... it's like this whole new space which not many people know about.. but it really is there. lol

Anyways... I guess I just have a crap CRT at work... it's a sony, but old and the colors are faded and the black is not black at all... so when I go home it's such a shocking difference that I can't help but to be a little more of an LCD fan... but I can't argue with the logic that a top of the line CRT will beat an LCD in refresh, clarity, motion blur, etc... but LCDs are so fast and good now that it hardly really matters to me and I like the smaller size, mobility, etc...

Also - my best friend is a staunch CRT person (has a 22" CRT - damn thing could be a boat anchor lol). and he loves my 23! (it is a sceptre X23s naga and has a combined rise and fall of 25ms, but it looks faster).. Honestly I would ditch it for a 2405 in a sec if it didn't... it's not like I don't have $$ to spend on toys. Anyways, not all LCDs which are labeled the same are created equally.. you really have to have hands on with them to know how good they are... well, not as much now as it used to be.. but anyways... some 25ms ones look like crap compared to others... Anyways... any further arguing on this will be like herding cats... so that's all from this cat.
