LCD mod idea

I've seen the mods of a small lcd mounted on the front of some computers. Has anyone thought of mounting a bigger lcd on the side of their case. I was thinking something like a 17 inch wide lcd. The ones found in the sony or dell laptops, w the glossy surface. That would be kool for lan parties. One less thing to drag around.

Only problem would be the heat generated by the LCD. My Dell 2005fpw generates heat, not scorch the earth heat, but I wouldn't wan't that much extra going into my case.

Yes, people have thought of it and yes, people have done it.

Could somone post links to where people have done this before? I've searched online and I can't find anything on how to do this.

No links, but I was thinking you could do what I was planning, which is to attach a LCD with a hinge to the side of the case and then have it fold in for portability.

Here you go. This guy has an lcd attached to the side panel that swings open. He's also got a wallpaper pic of the actual internals of his pc so when he closes it, it looks like the internals of his pc. :)

That is exactly what I want to do. He did a really good job. I wanted to do it w/ a 17 glossy screen like the ones found in the some of the laptops. I guess I can settle for a normal desktop LCD. I wish he wrote a review on how to do this. Any ideas on how I should get started?

ok.. I think this is what I'm going to do. I"m going to take a 17' 8ms sony LCD and place it in a Kingwin Case.

KINGWIN KT-424-BK Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

Sony 17" Flat-Panel LCD Monitor - Black
Model: SDM-HS75P/B

How do you guys think this would work? Any ideas?

There are also a few people who have taken an iMac shell and installed an LCD in the front and regular PC components and it appears almost identical to the iMac.
