Can anyone possibly help me here, I had problems months ago with my computer and everything has gotten fixed, but I still am faced with the same problem of watching any dvd on my computer, it looks horrible. I have seen so many peoples LCD's around here in my dorm at UNH, all I would consider not as nice as mine, I have a SONY SDM-S73/B 17" Monitor and I mean it set me back a good 450$ back when I got it, this doesn't make sense that this is like this. For gaming its great, I read up with so many monitors that didn't play well with games, but I really havent had anything the matter with this except when you watch movies it looks grainy no matter what. I mean watching the actual dvd in the dvd drive, I have an X800 Xt, so its not like the graphics card has anything to do with it here, the monitor should display the movies clearly and look awesome, but this is not so. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated guys. THanks.

DVD’s to a large degree are film transfers, complete with all the grain. The grain is not so bad on conventional TV or even HI Def TV, but it is more noticeable on higher resolution computer monitors. Some are much worse then others.

Try borrowing (no need to buy it) a copy of “Fast and Furious” and look at the opening scenes that are all digital tape and CGI. If that’s clean your ok. Some of the CGI from parts of the original Matrix are pretty good as well.
