Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Saq, I had a couple of CRT monitors, the best I could afford, and my eyes hurt after 5-6 hours in front of the screen, even tho I always kept refresh rate cranked up to the max. CRT's radiate some energy into your eyes; not as much as they used to, for they have high-quality "radiation shielding" on CRT's nowadays.
But that tiny amount of radiation, IMHO does harm to a human eye. Of course some folks dont feel the effect, and I say good luck to them.
As soon as I switched to LCD monitors, all tiredness in eyes, all smarting, all irritation, totally disappeared forever.
LCD monitors do not radiate energy into your eyes; at least not harmful energy like CRT's do. This is just my opinion based on years of using both kinds of monitors.
I can't say that Rim is right or wrong, but, once I went to LCD I dumped my other CRT monitors just as fast as I could afford to replace them. All were good top of the line Viewsonics.
If you do go LCD I can't mention enough, go DVI as your interface. I have one Envison 9110 DVI on a Radeon 9800 Pro and two other LCDs on VGA. DVI is the hands down winner, I've purchased my last VGA LCD.
Eye strain is gone..games are no problem. Word, Excel etc are all now a pleasure to use for extended periods.
I noticed that the eye strain is definately reduced. After looking at it for long hours, my eyes do get a bit tired. But that's usually when I get bored and want to find something else to do.
It definately is a good move if you are sitting in front of the computer for long periods of time.
