LCD Issue: Desktop displays for a second...then nothing (?)

I have a brand new cvm 522a 15" analog-only lcd that i'm ultimately going to strip down and put into a DIY projection box.

The issue: The display flickers on then off approx 3-4 times upon bootup, it displays desktop for about 3 seconds, then the screen goes blank. I can briefly revive the screen if i play with the display properties, but a second later it goes blank again.

Things i've tried:
-Adjusted numerous display properties, including refresh rates and resolution.
- tried running it as a 2nd dual-monitor in clone mode...nada, exact same symptoms as above.
-tried running it off 2 ati rigs, nvidia rig, and a laptop...nada, exact same symptoms as above.
- checked the vga pins, they are all intact.
- tried a new vga cable, nada, same as above

any ideas ? Is this a classic sign of a bad lcd monitor?

Well, looks like RMA time. Just noticed a jiggly-noise within the lcd enclosure, some small part within must have worked itself loose.

in case anyone is curious, the monitor going on/off is a fairly common lcd issue and has many more causes than fixes; raising the agp voltage fixes it for some. Most people never fix this problem from what i've gathered so far....i'm one of the lucky ones since i just recieved it and have the option of rma ( )
