i just bought this DCLCD DCL9A from Newegg

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-211-003&depa=1

now my question is.i need to use this lcd over a long length.... meaning.. the pc is in one room and the display will be in another room. about 25-30 feet away.... wats the best way to do this?

my vid card has DVI and VGA also has composite tv out.

now heres the thing. i was thinking the best bet would be to use composite out. but the lcd doesnt have composite in. is there some kind of converter composite to vga?

thanks guys.

I gotta know why it is your trying to do this... no matter what kinda of cord you use it's not gonna work the signal strength would be to low for it to work if at all..

its for a digital security camera system..

the actual computer server is in the office room and the display will be in the cash register area.

is there like a wall that you can go through? the thing is if it would work at all it would require more money, and most people don't like the sound of that.if there is just a wall between the areas I'd suggest drillinga hole and run the cable through there.. if not youre actually better off getting a wireless tv connector.. I think that X-10 makes something like that but the vid card in teh computer would have to have composite... and it would work better with a tv as far as ease of use

i dont think u understood.

i dont mind running the wire through the wall..

the problem i have is that..

the lcd is vga... can i use my vid card tv out to hook it up to my lcd?

the tv out is composite.

so how can i ... go from composite to vga..

well they do make (for people who want to play console games on thier monitor) converters like your talking about but they aren't cheap. but if you did it in that manner you would want to use a vid card that had composite output run the cable to the desired area then have the converter

that sounds like the plan..
thanks

before you jump all over that keep in mind as I said before there could be an issue with signal strength

what do u mean as in singla strength?

as it wouldnt work? cause the line might be too long?

You could have a terminal in the cash register area driving the LCD and just have some sort of network remote scheme to see what you need to. It would be a much cleaner setup in my opinion.

my setup is real time. so the network thing would probably slow it down.. i paid for a real time setup and i intend to use it anyways possible.

I'm wondering why you didn't spend more time planning this out b4 you made your purchases?

cause i inteded to go with a crt monitor. which would have no problem since i would run vga.

but the costs of that add to as much as a lcd.

so i went with lcd and decided to spend a lil more to use that with the limited counter space.

i think i will use the vga converter..

Hey so give us an update how did that whole method work out for you?

well i talked to a geek friend of mine. and he told me to go with the original idea of running a vga cable. said there wouldnt be a problem. i need about i think 75 feet.

but i wont be able to give an update until about 2 more weeks since the store is still under construction. i have used a 30 feet before for a normal crt monitor. never had a problem before.
