I was wondering what hurdles I'd have finding and using a lcd monitor for an hdtv? Would my ps3 even recognize it as one? How big do they come and what's the lifespan?

How big do they come? How big is your wallet? lol

Lifespan?

There should be no technical limitation in using an LCD monitor as an HDTV.

The main limitation is that a "monitor" will not come with a tuner, so if you want to watch TV you will need to have something else to use as a tuner (such as cable box).

Also many LCD monitors are 16:10 aspect ratio such as 1920x1200, while HDTV is 16:9 aspect ratio, such as 1920x1080 (1080i/1080p).
