I have a small 10" IPS LCD that takes 9-12v DC at nominal amps. In theory, can I power it by the 12v rail on my PSU? Is there a better way to integrate powering the screen without another using another wall wart/plug?
 
There arent any alternatives without using another mains socket, apart from battery.
PC 12V should work well as long as it doesnt interfere with sound.
 
I don't see why it wouldn't work. 12v DC is 12v DC. just check the amperage, which I assume will be fine since its so small. oh and the polarity!
 
Theoretically it would work. As Nenu alluded to, it might generate electrical noise that feeds over into the motherboard sound system.
