I think I may have decided to give the HannsG 28 inch (the new one) a shot from Costco. No-questions-asked returns policy helped make that decision. :D

I have a couple of choices for connecting the monitor up (it only takes an HDMI):

1) Use the DVI-to-HDMI adapter that came with my GTX 260 Core 216 and then use a cheap-o HDMI cable (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t..._shr?_encoding=UTF8&m=A3E5K6GEFSI075&v=glance). Total cost less than $5.

2) DVI Single to HDMI (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189129). Total cost around $13.

I am leaning towards the first choice, but will having an adapter followed by a cable potentially add reflections that will cause signal (and picture quality) degradation?

Also, 1920x1200 is supported by Dvi Single Link correct?

Buy this instead. <3 Monoprice.

I wouldn't worry about using adapters, I just find them ugly and inelegant, so I prefer to get the proper cables instead. Unless you're running long distance though I wouldn't worry about signal quality, it's digital so you don't get degredation they way you would with a poor VGA cable for example. You'll start getting signal loss with cheap cables, but not until 15m or more.

Yes, at 60Hz. I believe it's the maximum for single-link DVI.

Since I already had the adapter (and it will not be visible :p), I decided to go with the sub-$5 hdmi cable.

1920x1200x60 is the limit on single link DVI, but some really old DVI cards won't do 1920x1200 due to their DVI xmitters being limited to 1600x1200 (like the original CrossFire boards, some GeForce FX boards, etc)

and I'd go with the cheap HDMI cable + adapter solution personally (seems that you did already)

but doesn't this monitor include an adapter cable? (the previous model did...)

I believe it does come with one, but I am afraid it is going to be too short. That is why I ordered a 10ft just to be safe (I haven't completely decided how my new setup is going to be).
