LCD Cleaner?

Grab a bottle of kensington screen guardian and some lint free wipes. They work great and last a long time. I bought mine at staples.
 
dampen lint free cloth... no need to spend $$$ on cleaners
 
I heard a mixture of water and Isopropyl alcohol works best. Looks kind of smeary when I tried it on my 2405 but it was kind of a quickie job to clean off guck that was on it from the time I got it. Wonder if camera lens cleaner would be safe and effective?
 
Dust and smudges can be taken off with just a normal glass cleaning cloth.

For the worse stuff I just put a little water on a taper towel.
 
Paper towels are something you shouldn't use. They contain coarse wood fiber that will scratch the surface.

Isopropyl alcohol can be very bad for the anti-glair coating on monitors. most monitor manuals say not to use it at all...

I read in a number of places to use a bit of rubbing alcohol and water to clean LCDs. Water alone wouldn't do it in my case, it would just smear it around and make it worse.

The only instance I found that alcohol was ok was with samsung, but I question that as all others say no...
 
The panel is a Samsung (Dell 2405) so I should be okay :D . I do need something more than water, all that does is smear up the display. Guess I'll head to Staples for one of those clothes designed for LCD cleaning.

Oddly enough, I don't even notice it when its running. When its off, it looks pretty awful.
 
I dug out my camera lens cleaning solution. It says its also for LCD screens. Looked at the ingredients, it was water and Isopropyl alcohol. Guess I'll be off to the store after all, but you do you bet the commercial LCD cleaners also have the same ingredients?
