LCD Blurring

I just purchased a Dell UltraSharp 1905FP 19-inch LCD (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4113&category_id=4009). It is my first LCD and I've set it up with the system in my sig.

My problem is blurring. I know LCDs are slower than CRTs and all that, but I've used other people's LCDs before, and I've never seen anything this bad. Everything just goes out of focus when I move the mouse in CS:S, and I simply can't play Counter-Strike 1.6. If my target is moving, it's like trying to shoot at an agent in The Matrix. I just can't tell where the actual guy is in the blur.

I even get blurring in WoW. My character and spells and such stay in focus well enough but things in the background (especially dark objects) leave very long trails.

I know I won't be able to get it as sharp as my old CRT but surely there's something I can do to improve on this. Any help would be sooo appreciated!

Unfortunetaly I don't think there's anything you can do to improve it. The 1905FP uses a PVA panel which are alot slower than TN and IPS ones but have wide viewing angles and excellent contrast. You should have made some research before buying it since PVA panels are not meant for gaming.

I seee. I actually did do a fair amount of research and somehow different panel types completely excaped my notice. Can you point me to an article or something that explains the difference?

send that panel back to dell and continue to do some research. I don't know what your budget is like but if you can swing it, go for the 2001FP. That is if your setup can play games comfortably at 1600x1200.

Does Dell have a satisfaction guaranteed policy? I didn't notice one.

I believe so. Call them up and try and get someone in the US. I hate to say it but the support in India SUCKS BIG TIME!!! Good luck!

Excuse me while I hug my 2405FPW.

Hi, just call Dell (in India) and tell them you want to return it because it is not what you wanted. As long as you do it within 21 days, Dell will make the arrangements to have either UPS or DHL come by and pick it up. The best thing is that they pay for the return shipping. Then if your lucky, Dell will credit you in about 10-15 days after they receive it. I just did it with a Samsung monitor and it worked like a charm. At least that is one good reason to shop at Dell. Just follow the directions listed in this link. http://www1.us.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/dells_sat_policy?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn

Good luck,

Borocay

Buy the Hyundai 19" L90D+ 8ms, you'll be satisfied. I replace my old Samsung 710T with the Hyundai and I'm very impress, better than my old samsung. The only thing I missed is the magic bright. Also every review you can read willl tell you the same, right now the Hyundai is the best 19" 8ms. period.

It and the Samsung 915N are the best choices for 19" LCD's for gaming right now. Viewsonic is coming out with a new 19" 8ms panel soon though but i suspect its price will be higher.

I have the Hyundai and its really nice. I would enjoy a Dell 2405FPW but i can't justify paying almost $1,000 on an LCD when there will be better options available in the coming months i'm sure.

My new Hyundai L90D+ doesn't ghost no matter how fast I move in my game. If it exists, I sure as flip don't notice it.

Well it doesn't ghost but it's still blurry on some games...Try Quake Arena..Turn on yourself...Blurriness...here I come.
