You could take an old CRT monitor, strip out all the internals, paint it, install the LCD in the front and all the computer components in the rear of the casing. I always thought those were pretty cool setups.![]()
Yeah, I'm going to do this with a bare LCD from a laptop and a tiny EPIA-N motherboard. I am doing the "enclosure" from scratch using 0.060" 6061-T6 aluminum sheet and using a bending brake to bend the aluminum into a sort of half-exposed "enclosure."Originally posted by h0tice
i'm thinking about using my exhisting components (check sig) and somehow mounting them behind an lcd monitor in somewhat of a civilized and protective manner so that i could have an LCD all-in-one type pc. any good ideas on how i could do this?

Back in the day, when the search engine here actually worked, I or someone else would have searched for a thread showing how someone tore apart thier LCD and installed it into the side of thier case. There were actually quite a few of those types of mods and they did look pretty impressive. .....
LCD's are fairly fragile. i'd reccommend handbuilding the case, then adding another 2 inches or so on the side and haveing the LCD motor out when turning on and motor in when turning off. either that, or somehow flip out so that when not in use, it's protected. a cracked LCD would be a BAD thing...

i think he means to mount a LARGE lcd in the side of his case. like...a full time monitor. the standard lcd screen s hould be protection enough.
