lcd aging effects?

I just wanted to know if anyone knows what effects are possible with lcd aging.

I know with crt's they usually become dimmer, go out with a bang because a cap blew up, or get more blurry because the deflection circuit is no longer tuned to the best spot.
 
I have a 3+ year old LCD (Samsung 190s) and the backlight has burnt out, taking away much of the extra brightness of LCDs. Gotta keep it at 60 brightness, any less and it makes noise, any more and theres a burning smell. It still looks and functions good though, been at least a month or to since the backlight died.
