Latency issue

I have Corsair Twinx 3200 LL which has 2-3-2-6 latency timings. Problem is I only have 2x256 and I would like 4x256. But I can't find the same memory anymore and others have timings like 2-2-2-5.
Now my question is wether or not those 2 will be compatible.
2x256 2-3-2-6 and 2x256 2-2-2-5.

If not does anyone have a better suggestion rather then buying new RAM?
Would it perform the same as if I had 4x256 2-3-2-6 sticks?
And if not how much would my system suffer from it?

It's DDR-1 btw
 
what's the rest of your system? if you have an a64, you'll be hard pressed to get 4c512mb working, but if you have an intel baord, by all means, go for the extra two sticks to get 2gb :D
 
woops, I've got an intel p4 3.0Ghz Prescott on a Asus P4C800-E Deluxe :)
and I'm afraid that it should be 4x256 instead of 4x512 *blush*

edit: I updated it , it seems I typed 512 instead of 256 everywhere.
 
Let me refraise this since not many people seem to know what I want to know.
If I buy a 2-2-2-5 memory (2 x 256) and I want to run it along with another memory which has 2-3-2-6 ( so that's dual DDR PC3200 2x256 2-2-2-5 and another dual PC3200 2x256 2-3-2-6, so that 4 memory sticks )

Now should I turn the 2-2-2-5 into 2-3-2-6 timings for the sake of being sure. OR should I turn the 2-3-2-6 into 2-2-2-5. Considering both are stable ;)

I went on some research in those sticky threads and found that if I have CAS 2 and tRCD(or someting like it) 2 that my last timing should be 6. But in those corsair XL's it's 2-2-2-5. Does that mean they use a different method and thus i can't run it on 2-3-2-6 without damaging my performance?(likewise the other way around)

Both types are corsair.
The 2-2-2-5 is XL Twinx
and 2-3-2-6 is LL Twinx
 
I would say put the 2-2-2 to 2-3-2-6 to match the one dimm you already have....but for the same money you could just go 2 X 512 of 2-2-2-5 (Mushkin level II ver.2) Or Go to newegg and find some Mushkin Level I which is 2-3-2-6 last I remember, it's also very good ram and cheap !
 
tnx. But isn't Corsair better ? :) Or does it not matter? I'm kinda starting to get into this overclocking stuff and technical details.

BtW I'm running my 2-3-2-6 @ 2-2-2-5 to see how it would behave and I'm having no problems. In fact it seems faster than before? Only fear I have is that he might preform worse because of the 5 while it says it should be 6 in the sticky.
But I'll follow your advice unless I can see some serious improvements in the 2-2-2-5 or somebody tells me abit more about the 5/6 issue.

K, another question though.
I have the following in my bios
CAS# Latency 2
RAS# Precache 2
RAS# to CAS# Precache 2

so far so good.
But if I put them like this, no matter what if I run a program to see my timings I get
2-2-2-5 independant of the following 2 commands.

Precharger Delay 8
Burst length 8

What to these last 2 do and why don't they have an effect on the last digit.
Lowering the precharger seems to lower my boot time (takes less to check?)

When I had my mobo on auto, the program says 2-3-2-6 which are the indicated values bu Corsair.

heh 2-2-2-5 boosts my performance :)
I only get outperformed by the AMD64 3000+ processors.
so I guess I will be buying me one of those 2-2-2-5's
