Up untill now, I've had stock cases, fans, and power supplies, so I've never thought it a good idea to try to overclock. But I just got an Antec Super LANBOY case with 2 120mm fans (one intake in the front, one blowing out in the back) and an Aspire AS500 500w PSU with 2 80mm fans :D. This dropped my CPU idle temp down by 10 degrees celcius, so I've decided I might as well OC untill I at least go back up another 10 degs ;).

I have an Asus A7A266 mobo, AMD Athlon XP 1600+ (Palomino), generic PC 2100 256MB RAM, and an ATI Radeon 9700 PRO AiW 128MB. The thing is, I've come so late into OCing that I can't find any guides that show me how to do the basics of OCing.

If anyone could post or point me to any guides to tell me how to OC both my CPU and my video card, I would greatly appreciate it.

video card - head over to the video card forum, get the ATItool. reading the thread (the first few/last few pages anyway) should tell you how to use it. post questions there.

cpu - you probably aren't going to get much, if anything, out of that cpu/mobo/ram setup. that's basically it. you can go into bios and try raising the FSB a few MHz, but you can get system instability really fast with a motherboard like that. if you just want to warm it up, though, increase the cpu core voltage a bit. that'll warm it up nicely.

There's no point in overcloaking your video card with palomino 1600+. Trust me i have 9700np and 1700+ palomino:D and cpu is serious bottleneck for that card so change cpu and then try overcloking your radeon.
