Laser-straight ?

IC ...thou they advertise it as being one of those that just shoot out a straight line.

Yeah I don't think its possible for it to go around a corner... Now THATS false advertising.

it does shoot a straight line, straight [horizontal] line.

if you look at it, the beam emiter is tilted towards the wall. In order for it to project a line like that it would have to be a solid straight horizontal line. A simple dot would not be able to.. uh... "stretch" that much.

hope that makes sense.

And this was just posted on one of the [H]ardest geek sites on the net.... oh the shame of it all. :(

In the T.V. ad, it said you have to point it at the corner for this to happen. Didn't look at the site though.

I think in fine print it says something about needing a second one to do the trick with the corner

doesn't this just shoot out a fan shaped horizontal line?

Kinda like that..... cept horizontally? That's what I'd think.... it just spreads out along a horizontal axis? (is axis right word for this?)

i have a similar laser level, and the line does go around corners/odd shapes. Think
about a string, and how it can be draped over an object and pulled tight in a straight
line. It projects a line of light, so you hold the level several feet away from the wall.

its somewhat hard to explain

Come on guys.. just go to Sears and play with one. Lets not waste forum space with this when we can be looking at metal boxes with lighted fans.. :D

sure you do luke. tell yoda i said hi. LIGHT CAN NOT BEND! IT CAN REFRACT! if it could bend, i would be in the 4th century right now cause that would solve time travel. nice one.

people think about it, the laser is not bending around any corner (just dont work)

what you do is put it on the oposite corner and it will project on to both walls, including the corner it dont mater if you wall looks like this
_______
|
|
|
|

or if it looks like this
________
...............|
...............|
...............|
...............|

if you hold it at the correct corner (lower right on top and upper right on bottom) the light will cover the outside of both walls. Making it look like it is going around the corner.
