I am wondering what the largest available single unit solution is currently for storing unreasonable ammounts of data. I'm looking for something that is wastefully large and hopefully fast.

I am aware of the NetApp FAS6200 which claims to have a potential of 3PB of data. Is there anything that rivals this?

Bonus points for simplicity and ease of use.

The largest one that I've built is 6.122PB... 25 racks. 10GbE optically interconnected system(hosts) backended disks on 8Gbps FC. 3 I/O nodes per rack, 1 raid controller, 6trays of 16 disks per rack.

...simple, right?

ps - this was phase 3 of the storage side of the machine. phase 4 was identical, and 3 & 4 were in addition to the existing 12.244PB already in place. Oh.. this is SCRATCH space for this machine :D

OK but what technology did you use specifically. Notice I am looking for comparison to the NetApp FAS6200. Is this a storage solution that you purchased together as a complete bundle or did you cobble together these components yourself? If the latter is the case, what parts did you get to make up the whole? 25 racks of what?

Also notice in the first sentence I mentioned a single unit solution. I am referring to a single server with X number of controllers connected to Y number of drives.

As a disclaimer, my current client is NetApp.

3PB (actually 2.88 since it is 1,440 disks) is using 1,440 2TB drives, not anything larger which of course the market has out, but NetApp has yet to introduce.

Going larger often means you use another FAS6280 and attach additional drives.

Thank you. That is exaclty what I am looking for. Does anyone else have anything that competes with this?
