Well as for the Lian Li, the Xaser VI Im getting is slightly bigger and the Mountain mods just dont do anything for me. Guess I'll just stick with the one Im getting and once its all together I can figure things out a little better... thanks.
wow I can fathom spending 1k on a case.
1K and it not even liquid cool? Wow!
WOW....
Did not even click on the link.
Lian Li PC-V2100 Aluminum Server Case - Watercooled Edition
who ever would buy a 1000 dollor case cuz it has water cooling is retarded, u can prob make that same case for like 650 including the wc parts.
I just hope you have an extreme chip cuz these things with a normal chip is overcooling

I getting the QX9650, Asus Maximus Extreme, Corsair Dominator 4GB DDR3 1800Mhz and dual 3870 X2's. I figure I could use the one loop with the triple rad with the CPU+NB... see about adding a second double rad and then add another pump and resevoir and have each GPU on its on loop, so I can have 3 UV colors... or I could just add the double to the existing double and stick with 2 loops total.
well even if i had 1000 to spend in my mind its not as rewarding as building it yourself.
I wouldve advised you to drop the 4GB DDR3@1800 idea but you seem to have a serious money problem and need to get rid of them by any possible way
Honestly........Performance is the king of cases and modifications......you cant argue with the quality of their work.
I have had two modified cases from them.....my CM and a Lian-Li and both are expertly done.
Their service is top notch as well.
I buy almost all of my WC and modification stuff from them as well.
Bottom line, if you are happy with the choice.....do it.

Ah Ha.... She got the house eh?
Why do I want to drop the RAM? And you lost me on this... "you seem to have a serious money problem"?? I dont quite understand lol
And thanks for those links... good stuff.
We set out to see if there was a significant difference between DDR2 and DDR3 memory on both of the Intel P35 Express based ASUS motherboards and found that there really isn't. Right now there is no clear call as to what would be better for gamers and enthusiasts as it depends on your tastes. As with all new technology it will only get better as time goes on and with memory companies hitting ~1,800MHz on the initial 512Mb DDR3 IC's it shows great promise for the new memory type.
True, on the one hand DDR3 SDRAM cannot take the system performance to another level. The tests showed that the newest DDR2 SDRAM can provide the same level of performance as the currently available DDR3 SDRAM. In fact, the results of our benchmarks indicate an approximate parity between systems equipped with DDR2-1066 SDRAM and DDR3-1333 SDRAM. And since DDR3-1333 SDRAM is not only the fastest memory in the market today, but also the fastest memory that Intel P35 based platforms support, it doesn’t make any sense even for computer enthusiasts who care about every additional percent of extra performance to transfer to DDR3 SDRAM at this time.
According to the obtained tests results , neither DDR 3-1333 with the extremely low latency north DDR 3-1600 could ensure unambiguously better speed, than DDR2 memory. Although in some tasks, for example in games, during video coding and in Excel new DDR3 SDRAM shows higher performance, but there is a large quantity of tasks, where the picture is reverse.
I wonder how much extra performance could:
Q6600 + ASUS P5E3 Deluxe/WiFi (or any other X38 with DDR3 support) + 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR3@1600 ____________ $260+$335+about $350 = $945
Offer over this:
Q6600 + GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L (or ABIT IP35) + 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2@800 (or @800 but OCable to 500Mhz)_____$260+$100 (or 180) +$44 (or $70) = $404 (or $510)
It could offer slightly better performance (talking about the real life not the benches) but is it worth it?
my plan is:
Q9450 + ASUS MAXIMUS FORMULA + 4GB (2X2) DDR2@OCable to 500Mhz (mostly the G.Skill DDR2-1000)________let’s say $350 + $260 + $114 = $724
MAXIMUS FORMULA will offer me:
native support for the new 45nm processors (I guess the P35 does that but after updating the drivers)
and PCI-E 2.0
and I’ll go 5 loops with this thing (CPU+GPU+NB+SB+Mosfet1+Mosfet2)
and of course this board has proven that it worth the extra money
but I admit that the $404 plan is a very smart one, it can even go cheaper if done with the new Wolfdale E8400 instead of the Q6600
all those plans will offer a super computer/gaming experience specially when executed with a top-end graphic card (like the next GeForce 9800GX2)
maybe that’ why manufacturers offer this plan:
the worthless QX bla bla + the pointless DDR3 + top-end X38 (or even X48) = moahaha
so people with a plan similar to mine would feel they haven’t done the most stupid plan![]()
they used lower end systems, compared to a high end watercooling setup which WILL give far greater cooling ability
tho i do agree, ddr3 is useless at this point in time
I would consider dropping the DDR3 if I could find a motherboard equal to the Maximus Extreme. So you tell me what options do I have for the following:
QX9650 - Must Keep
CrossFire - Must Keep
2 PCIe 16x Slots
Q9450/E8500 based system is not really a low-end one, a good air-cooling system
