I keep reading about Toshiba and Seagate having a 1.5TB 2.5" form factor HDD, but still haven't seen in for sale in the wild. I was wondering maybe I'm looking for it in the wrong places?

I have a MBP that I need a minimum of 1.2TB of space. I'm currently running it of externals (yuck) for storage and would love to go portable as the MBP was meant to be.

Any suggestions?

What is a MBP?

I know the Samsung MT2 is relatively cheap and provides 1TB storage (3x333GB or 4x250GB i do not know). It is still more than twice as expensive per gigabyte than 3,5" disks though. If that gap would be smaller, i would gladly switch to 2,5" HDDs.

Still not useful as I need 1.5TB.

The 15" MBP can handle 12.5mm.

My question is where can I buy said 1.5TB drives that Toshiba and Seagate has been touting.

As far as I know they are not out yet, just shown off in Trade Shows and what not.

Is this for an application you need to install that requires it? Just seems like a odd number to me..never seen anyone as for 1.2TB..it's always a "X TB's" or "more then X"

I looked into it, but the thickness issue is still there....

Just did a look around the vendors again, don;t see anything- anyone know any different?

Atm, to what i know, the highest capacity 2.5 available for consumers is 1TB on 12.5 drives, Samsung has a 1tb standard 9.5 scheduled fo ends of the year, maybe by then we might see 12.5 1.5tb drives, but i somewhat doubt it.
