When i started back up about 2 weeks ago, i was getting 100000 step units, now i get 500000 or 250000 that seem to give less points. The only flags im using is -smp and -advmethods. is there a reason I get larger units now?

It seems to just depend as I was getting combinations of larger and smaller A3 work units on my gaming rig before I got a dedicated folding rig. For slower processors, it does appear that the larger units will yield lower ppd numbers since they take so much longer to do. Wait till you get a 6040 or 6041 A3 work unit, as those are HUGE!!!! A bigadv WU ends up usually being a 100mb upload when finished, and those were around 66mb of so.

These larger A3 units aren't so good on my C2D's. I've ONLY gotten them on my C2D's which kinda sucks because obviously my C2Q's could handle them better. They are pretty sizable uploads (not quite Big Adv, but getting damn close.

If these uploads keep getting bigger and bigger I'm going to have to spring for that second DSL line. :(

just be happy you dont have a modem that reboots every time an A3 WU uploads :(.. god im sick of comcasts crappy hardware.. really wish i could replace this thing with my own modem but i cant..

I am not having an issue with WU uploads

In ref to the OP, the larger unit run better on faster/newer hardware.
Since the benchmark system is a Core i5 cpu, older Core 2 processors will see a drop, due to K Factor (Bonus)
Core i5 /i7 systems are more efficient "clock for clock" when compaired to Core 2 (Duo & Quad) so it will show as the units get bigger.
