Today I got a 250 gig Maxtor DiamondMax Plus hard drive. I formatted and installed windows XP in it. I looked at the drive's properties and windows detected the proper size of the hard drive, but it also said that 110 gigs had already been used! So I figured that it was the >137 gig hard drive problem so I installed SP1, the latest Nforce drivers for my mobo and ran Maxtor's Big Drive Enabler program. The 48bit thing was enabled, and Maxtor's diagnostic program said the hard drive should be working fine but Windows still says that 110gigs has been used. Windows has always detected the proper size of the hard drive but says 110 gigs has been used. It's all one partition also, there isn't an unpartition spaced. Is this the same problem as the greater than 137 gig problem? I tried using partition magic to break up the hard drive but I can't the primary partition less than 110 gigs because Windows thinks I have used that much, which I haven't, from Windows XP, SP1, and the mobo and vid drivers only come to less than 2 gigs. I'm not experienced with drives this large, so if anyone can suggest some other things I can do it'd be much appreciated.
