Laptops?

Hi,

I will need a PC for university and dont know what to get. I am thinking either a SFF or a laptop. I am looking for a small, light, long battery life laptop (think thats everything). Only definate condition is that resolution needs to be at least 1600x1200.

I like the look of apples but dont know how they compare. Could anyone suggest makes to look for so I can start browsing. Dont want to pick an overpriced brand or poor quality stuff.

Well it really depends on your budget. I like Sager notebooks as well as Dell. Dell gives you alot more bang for your buck. And there are always coupon codes posted at www.gotapex.com for them.

Hmmm, just general use, office, internet. Nothing extreme like developing/encoding. Maybe the occasional game but not certain.

Would like dvd rw if possible but again not that necessary

The problem with thin and light is going to be the resolution and the video card. Here is my suggestion to you:

Its a barebones laptop. You can pick and choose what other parts you would like. Its very thin and have a pretty nice video card. Native res on it is 1680x1050. And most importantly it will not break the bank terribly. Since you didnt give a budget I just kind of guessed. I would recommend adding a 1.6Ghz processor, 512M of ram( maybe a gig), DVD burner (since you mentioned you would like one) and a hard drive of your choosing. Should only run you around 1400-1500 bucks. And you can definately game on that if you wanted to.

There are also a bunch of other notebooks on that site that might interest you. Play around with the different models and prices/options.
