Hey folks,

I have a $800 budget and am looking for a laptop that I can connect to my TV to watch some movies now and then. My TV supports 720p resolution and HDMI but cant find any laptops that can output to HDMI.

Help is appreciated!

If you can find one that has DVI output, yuo can use a DVI-HDMI cable to connect to your TV.

Almost all laptops nowadays has HDMI. Look for what you want specifically first and read reviews.

Most (if not all) of the DV series from HP do. Also, be aware that not all output sound as well through HDMI. The HPs I believe do while the Dells do not (not 100% on that). I'll find out for sure about my HP when I receive my new Acer H233H this week.

remember he needs video and audio through single hdmi and im pretty sure the 4200 does not not do this and needs a separate cable for audio.

I'm not a big fan of HP or Dell. Very shoddy construction. I'm gona bite the bullet o the Lenovo G550 unless anyone can suggest otherwise.

i dont think that sends audio over hdmi. did u change your mind about wanting a single cable?

my GF's dell 1525 outputs sound over HDMI, apparently some people say it is supposed, and some say it isn't. Its never given us trouble though.

tried the MSI , felt like cheap junk.

Tried the Sl510 and loved it. Very sturdy and ergonomically engineered machine.

Huge sale now on lenovo, got it almost 50% of than what they sell it for in the retail shops.

A lot of today's laptops have them. My Asus M50vm has HDMI out, and it's a 1 year old laptop.

i have a Gateway 7811-FX laptop I bought for $1,100 in Oct 2008 and it has a 9800 GTS and a HDMI output

there's a lot of laptops that come with HDMI

before you buy i suggest you head over to the Notebook Review forums and post there, they are all about nothing but laptops, and you'd get a more educated answer there

Acer 3810t (and I assume the bigger model) can do audio/video via hdmi output

yea I tried the acers and gateways and MSIs. They are all generally built the same way and feel very cheap and fragile to the touch. I've already purchased the sl510 as it meets my requirements much more so than compareable machines. I dig the whole business-oriented-on-a-budget route they took with it.

The dell studios are good laptops. Like the 14z we got for my sister.
