So I have tried to do some digging on my laptop to upgrade the memory. I cannot figure out if I can get memory with a faster speed rating. I have a Compaq Presario F500 laptop with a geforce go 6100 chipset/graphics. I currently have 1GB DDR2-667 memory. I'd like to get 2GB DDR2-800 memory. I am sure I can upgrade to 2GB but I am not sure about the speed. Any help?

Sure, you can always get faster RAM. It will just run at the speed your computer is capable of.

Most laptops are not going to run memory any faster than what you bought it with due to the bios. You can buy DDR800 and the computer will simply downclock it to DDR667 but, there is no advantage to buying DDR800 over 667 for a laptop. Buy whichever is cheapest and is certified to work in your unit.
