My friend Kelly gave me her dead HP ZT3000 laptop.. screen is fine but the mobo is dead.. she wanted me to sell it and build her a new computer but im having more fun scrapping all the laptop into a working computer again.. Id like to know if it is possible to buy/build a controller for a laptop LCD screen so that i could hook it up to a desktop computer..

Google for the answer, but it is my understanding is that it is not worth the hassle or the dollars in doing so. Must buy a power source and a conversion cable and (I believe) a third piece. I believe all those pieces may be proprietary, so your investment may not carry over to another setup.
