So, I've had these z-5500's for about a year now and I love them.

I bought them when I was still using my desktop and had a decent sound card in there. But about 6 months ago I bought a laptop and it is now my main rig (I don't do any gaming or anything anymore).

I've finally gotten to a point financially where I'm looking at improving my sound on my laptop and I was looking for options?

I have USB and an open PC express slot on my laptop.

I listen to music and watch movies ALL day long,
and I also do music editing / mixing / etc.

As you know I have a 5.1 speaker setup,
and I'm also looking at spending a few hundred on a good pair of headphones down the road.

Any suggestions as far as sound card goes?

Does your notebook have a PCMCIA slot? If so, the Creative Soundblaster Audigy notebook card would give you a serious boost in audio performance. You can get one for around $75. I use it with my lappy all the time.

I like your sig. First rule: You do not talk about Fight Club!

Hey thanks for the reply man,

I do not have a pcmcia, it's a newer-ish laptop. So it's express =/

Might be a long shot but try searching for a USB soundcard. I believe Creative still makes the Audigy 2 NX
