Can anyone out there help me with a problem? I have the following system:

Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.4Ghz
768MB RAM
64MB Shared Video RAM
SiS650 Video Chipset
40GB HD
CDRW/DVDROM

ALL latest system / video drivers installed.

Is there any way I can get this piece of junk to play games like, Jedi Academy, Star Wars Galaxies, etc? It will play Knights of the Old Republic and meets all of the system requirements for the other 2 games, but just won't do the deal. I am bald, so I don't have any hair to pull out.... Please help. I am not getting any support from Lucasarts, Raven Software, Bioware, or Sony Entertainment Online. They all refer me to their "Supported Video Card List", in which my card is niether listed on the "Supported List" or the "UnSupported List". The game system checkers both say that my system is good to go for play, for the games that don't work, and for Knights of the Old Republic, its system checker says that my system does not have OpenGL 1.4 support, but still runs.

I used GLView to see what my system did have in the way of OpenGL support and it tells me that I have full support for all OpenGL versions up to 1.3, and 10 out of 12 supported features for v1.4 and 2 of 5 for v1.5 and 0 for v2.0.

I contacted SIS, but they won't deal with end users, only manufactureres and the company that made / sold me this laptop is no longer in business.

PLEASE DON'T TELL ME I'M "SOL". There must be a solution, I just don't know what it is. I have pleaded with SiS, Lucasarts, Bioware, Raven, and Sony to include more SiS650 support in their updates and new games, but they are blowing me off. Knights of the Old Republic did not work when I first got it, but when BIOWARE did an update patch v1.03, all of a sudden it worked and has worked great ever since. I just can't get any of the other companies to follow suit.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Here are the specs that I pulled off sis' site for your graphics

High performance 256-Bit 3D/128-Bit 2D Graphic Engine – 2 pixel rendering pipelines and 4 texture units per cycle (2P4T) – Up to 143Mhz 3D engine clock speed •SiS Ultra-AGPIITM Technology w/ up to 2GB Data Transfer Rate – Successor of Ultra-AGPTM Technology and double the bandwidth up to 2GB – AGP8x equivalent bandwidth for 3D/2D/Video. •Advanced Hardware Acceleration for DVD playback •Share Memory Size from 8MB and up to 64MB

I belive those games you're playing check for Hardware T&L and it seems your graphics doesn't have it. But there is a solution. You might want give3D Analyze a go. I got it to run with Intel Extreme graphics and it worked when FFXI benchmark was checking for Hardware T&L. Good Luck.
Let us know how it goes.

Thank you very much for your detailed and very helpful reply. I have just downloaded the file you mentioned. I will certainly let you know how it goes. Your helpful message brought an instant smile to my face and was 100% on target. I know alot of folks that would be eager to know if it does. Talk to you soon, and thanks, again.

Thank you for your help. 3DAnalyze got me further, in that, the game would run, I could hear it, but couldn't see it. Just out of chance, I rolled back my sisgl.dll file and Jedi Academy started working, go figure... I have not had a chance to try 3DAnalyze with Star Wars Galaxies yet, but will let you know. Thank you!
