Laptop Recommendation

Hi guys,

Need to pick up a laptop quick. I'm looking to spend as little money as possible. I'll be using the laptop mainly for internet browsing and photo/video editing of my kids. Not much gaming... maybe a couple rounds of Counterstrike here and there.

One thing that I do want is for the screen to be at least 15" or bigger.

Thanks in advance!

Would help to know where you live ;)

A budget too -- "as little money as possible" is something to work with, but it also means going for a refurb if you don't specify new.

New? A Thinkpad T530 ($700 or so) or a Thinkpad Edge E530 ($500 or so). Otherwise I'd check the Dell outlet for Latitudes or the Lenovo outlet for Thinkpads.

But that's me, and I'm a fan of business class laptops.

Sorry, I'm located in northern Virgina.

I'm trying to spend as little as possible but would spend up to 1k if absolutely necessary. I didn't want to throw that out there from the get go because people would have recommended 1k systems lol.

Refurb would work for me, I'm fine with that. I'm comfortable spending 500.

What CPU/GPU/memory should I look for?

A core i5 system should do plenty with 4-8GB of ram.

New: Thinkpad Edge E530/E535 or Dell Vostro 3560 (I think those are in your price range and half decent, but I'm not sure about screen quality)

Dell Outlet has some Latitudes in that range as well, 5530 or 5520 looks like, for around the $500 price point. Those aren't the super nice models though iirc.

Lenovo Outlet: Loads of options. I sorted by <$500, 15.6" screen, i3, i5, or A-series. Worth checking out for sure. If you'd consider the 14.1" versions you might pick up a U410 there.
