8GB in (2x4GB) at 1600 1.35v Cas Lat. 9 $50
OR
16GB in (2x8GB) at 1600 1.5v Cas Lat. 10 $100

CPU is going to be i5-3210M or i7 3610QM. Laptop use will be for games and Running vm on it. If this is in the wrong thread please move it.
 
Have you checked that the laptop you want supports 16GB? I'll admit I haven't gotten intimate with the latest Ivy Bridge mobile chipsets but the last generation had a good number of laptops that only officially supported 2x4GB.
