the area that is circled is the contact point for the gpu on the motherboard. the CPU had regular old TIM installed. the gpu had a piece of "foil" over the TIM between it and the surface of the GPU.
these two pictures are with the foil still intact on the gpu heatsink. u can see the color difference between it and the cpu contact point.
i removed the foil and found a whole layer of TIM. is this normal?
first time ive ever taken a laptop apart, so im curious...
