I have a PIII Dell Latitude CPx laptop that I bought used. After a while, the kyboard startd crapping out. spciaally the e ky as you can probably see from me typing this post. I figurd since I bought it used, I didn't haave a warrenty, and I didn't know dll had issssud a freee fix for kyboards on thir laptopss. I just figured that a cable insid was loose, so I opnd it up and checkd th connections. I repluggeed everything in, except there was a problm with on of the cabls. As I know now, it was the cable for thee touchpad. It wass a small, red sata looking cable. The actual cable part camee out of the plastic plug on th end. I tried to reconnect it, but it didn't work obviously. Now the touchpad doesn't work, th pointing sstick doesn't work, and a usb or ps2 mouse doesnt't work. I can see the cable making th touchpad and the sstick not work, but not external mouses. Is there anything can I do save takee it to a shop? Considering I neeed this problem fixd, th keyboard fixed, and th computr locks up wheeneever I plug something into the cardbuss port (happend beforee I opneed it), is it evn worth paying th $80 initial fre just for somebody to look at it and theen $40 per hour for the overpriced placess around hr to fix it? Or should I justlive with tabbing everything and typing almost illegibly lik this. Or is thre any way that I can fix this myself. (built two mATX computers, nveer workedon a lappy)

try fixing it yourself, try looking around and posting in the dell community forums, they have a couple knowledgeable reps who linger there to answer questions, and tbh it is the best tech support that dell provides. If you cant figure out a way to fix it, buy another used lappy, or a cheap new one...it probably wont be much more expensive than the 400$ you would end up paying to get it fixed.

Also, I know that the usb and ps2 ports still work, as I can use a ps2 keyboard and a usb wireless internet adapter.
