Laptop like Display Setup

Hello World!

I'm new here, and probably like many others I've signed up because I'm considering doing some modifications, in my case, I have a fairly unique situation which I'm trying to solve.

Here's my problem:

I've had a 17" macbook pro for quite some time now, and for my next machine what I want to do is assemble my own hackintosh - the problem is that I've been using a laptop for so long that I'm very much used to lying down on my bed and working, and I really don't want to buy a desktop only to go back to my old laptop because its more comfortable.

Seeing as getting an HDMI input to a laptop screen is apparently impossible, the alternative it to buy a 19 inch screen, and try to assembly my own laptop like frame that runs a power cord and hdmi cable back to the box itself in my room.

In the experience of everyone here, how hard will this be? I'll be honest, I've had no experience modding, and don't have any access to specialised equipment for cutting parts, ect. Is it possible that this kind of thing could be done with pre-made components? I was considering the possibility of getting a briefcase and attaching some laptop hinges to it - do people think this could work?

I should probably mention that my budget is $250 screen, laptop and mouse not included, and I'm perfectly open to alternatives to any modding at all.

Sorry to come of desperate, but I really don't have enough experience to know what works and what doesn't.

Swithc to Windows 7 and use remote desktop. No wires needed.

Do not do this. Remote desktop will not work for anything thats response intensive, or videos/movies. It will work for audio/music but beyond that .. no.

Just run a long hdmi cable and a usb extension for kb (select a kb that has a powered usb.. like a g15 and bug the mouse off of that). Mount your LCD to the wall on an arm that can swivel/pivot..

Or find some sort of sliding arm off of a desk next to your bed would be my best recommendation
