i deleted all the drivers for monitor and vid card but it doesnt fix trhe prob. its almost like theres a black line every other pixel going vertically, which seems to stretch the image out on the screen. do i need to change my bios ?
my system is a gateway 400vtx and this was my auction i won. im thinking i need to find out the exact model laptop this screen is from before i can do anything to fix it?

does the model number of the new lcd match the old lcd ?
what happens when you a external monitor ?

it was suppose to be compatible because alot of laptops share the same lcds. it looked the same, the model number looked the same from what i remember, the side hidges bolted up perfect. but the display is messed up, even when the pc boots up the screen runs off the edge and all wierd.

any ideas? what does the lcd inverter do? mabe i need a new 1? or one to match the lcd?

i doubt its the inverter as the inverter is just a power supply for hte little cold cathode light that makes the screen bright
it is not for making the screen screw up like that

it looks like it is trying to run at the wrong resolutiong, try changing it to a different one maybe ?

you sure you connected the monitor cable all the way and such? Also what happens when you run it to an external monitor?

yup i opened it to recheck. its connected fine, external monitor runs fine. i guess the screen is just not compatible? id think its just a dumb setting that could be changed somehow but i cant fix it.
