laptop LCD question

Alright so last night i dropped something on my sisters laptop LCD. Everything looked fine when I shut down, but the next night (24 hours later) it was all messed up....half of the screen was screwed up bigtime.

My question is, how is it possible that it was completely normal when i shut down? I would think the damage would of occured instantly, not the next time i turned it on. Is it possible for the damage to set-in later?

I need to figure out if I did the actual damage or if she screwed it up later and blamed me (after seeing me drop something on it, then screwing it up herself, then blaming me so i have to replace her display).

Can you post of picture of the screen?

Most likely something was dropped on it or it was dropped :D
