My Bro has a laptop that doesn't work, due to the fact the pin in the power socket has came out. It's been left alone for ages and I've just had an idea. I'm not that good at electronics but I think i might just have an idea here.

Idea Idea : Right, you know the wire you plug into a phone, well cut that wire short and cut part of the the cable going to the laptops power socket. then connect the two together and plug the phone cable socket thing into the socket. The phone socket thing has 2 pins, you wire these two pins so that they go to the + and - of where the dc cable usually plugs into to.
And thats it from my idea.

Is it brilliant or complete utter rubbish.

screw getting electrocuted......ummmm......buy a new adapter on ebay.

Your not gonna get electrocuted with low voltage, LPS circuits. You want even feel a thing if you tuch a 5-12V, hell probably not even 48V DC.

As for the OP, I can't image what your talking about. If it were me. I would open up the laptop to gain access to where the power connector mounts to the motherboard. Look up the part number on digikey, mouser, or some other such electronics warehouse thing. Order it. Desolder the old one, solder the new one on...
