Wait, so you're looking for an enclosure for a 2.5" laptop hard drive that functions as an MP3 player?

Try the Archos Jukebox (discontinued, but cheap) or Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra.

Both seem to already have a HDD in them? Or am I missing something?
I have the HDD just need an encloser for it to play mp3's and such

That's true, but you're not likely going to find one that doesn't have a hard drive in it already. No matter--just swap out the existing one for the one you want to use. The older Archos Jukeboxes only have 6 GB drives, so they would be ideal candidates as they are the least expensive. eBay and other places would have them, if you're interested.

Perhaps you read the number wrong, or the information you have is wrong. It's not likely, however, that the label on your drive is wrong. I'd trust that over some questionable site you found on the internet.

Actually that drive is a 32 GB model, as per the 32 as the last two digits of the model, but its likely that IBM set its capacity to 20 GB in the firmware. Some OEM's do that for replacement drives so that people wont freak and think they got the wrong drive, or "free" space  Some OEM's lock the capacity and dont ever bother to change the sticker to reflect it, which is irritating when refurbing machines.

I've tried to get around that using a HDD test machine at work that can modify firmware, but setting the capacity seems to be locked, so your stuck with 20 GB of usable space.

I was going to suggest that to him! I have a 10GB Archos Jukebox that's served me very well. It's not the USB 2.0 model though, so it transfers slow :( , but it's great as a portable HD as you just plug it in and it shows up as a drive letter.

I wouldn't like mine as much if it didn't have RockBox's custom software. RockBox adds a TON of extra features and options.

If MP3 player functions are important, just buy a pre-assembled HD MP3 player that allows you to use the full HD. It might end up being cheaper.
