This thread walks a fine line, but the ultimate question is graphics, so I'm putting it here.
I need (well, want...) a new laptop.
I have a 12" g4 iBook which I mostly love, but I'm finding the screen size and resolution a bit restrictive lately, and it's a little frail overall, particularly in the graphics department.
No, I'm not looking for recommendations, I'm mostly decided on getting either a 15" Powerbook, or one of them new rev IBM T42ps (the one with the 1600x1200 15" screen).
The problem is the graphics.
The Powerbook has a mobile radeon9700 with 128mb of ram, and the Thinkpad has an ati mobile firegl t2 also with 128mb of ram.
I'd like to be able to play some games, but I have no idea how the firegl would stack up in say, WoW.
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of how the firegl compares to it's radeon cousin performance wise?
