I'm tempted to upgrade the CPU on my laptop which right now runs a Core 2 Duo Mobile T5200 1.6GHz cpu

The processor I have in hand is a Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz processor....

Looking at the following pages the only difference I can see that might be a problem is the FSB which is 533 on one and 800 on the other.

What do you think? Possible that it might work? Would be fun to try either way.

Laptop is a dv9235nr HP notebook.

C2Duo 1.6GHz
2GB mem
160GB HDD
8x DL DVD Burner
7600 Go
Vista Home Premium
ATSC Tuner

Yeap, I agree that the fsb will hinder the performance with the 2.2ghz processor, but if you still want to try I know that you can get the service manual that walks you through taking the laptop apart from HP's website, I have the HP 9225us and I got the service manual from HP's website as it is available to everyone to download.

Thats what I was trying to determine. The socket types didnt seem different from the info pages.

I see the FSB is different, but didn't know if the laptop mobo would possibly accept the processor and new FSB (as do many motherboards) or not.

I think the latest Socket M was the T7200.

What chipset is your board running? I believe the chipset supports both 533 and 800. Use CPUZ to find out what chipset your laptop is using.

Socket M went to the T7600, 2.33GHz and 4MB cache.

T5200 is a Socket M chip, the laptop is almost certainly a i945 chipset. The 7500 is Socket P and will need a Santa Rosa capable system with the mobile i965 chipset.
