I put two 6.10 B3 consoles on my laptop. Dell Vostro - Intel T5270 C2D @ 1.4Ghz

Don't think SMP will run fast enough to make deadlines??

I have it sitting on my desk at work all night so it might was well do some folding.

Temps are 58C & 61C @ 100% load after 1 hour.

Is this too hot for the Laptop?

The temps are quite good for laptop. You are fine.
 
I agree with Jon on the temps. No, the SMP client will not make deadlines on that rig, stick with what you are doing now.

Hey Tobit, don't sweat the double post thing. I think what causes it is when the server gets overloaded and goes into it's "havin' to speed up to stop" mode :rolleyes: I think everybody that posts regular has double posted once, I know I have and I just started posting regularly (err.. semi regular perhaps, D'oh). :D

On the laptop thing: I had an ancient Armada once, a long time ago, (I think it was like a 333 GHz wonder) that you had to have a Fire Dept approved fire extinguisher to even boot.

Seriously, I don't think 58c to 61c degree temps are even considered that warm for a laptop @ 100% load.

 
I am going to agree. If the chewey work units come back you will not make deadlines on that using the SMP. I have been missing the preferred on most of the 30XX units I have pulled down in the last week or so @ 3.0 on a dual core.

Temps wise I don't have a clue. Good luck!

 
I have to say. these 44XX WU's are fast. 1.50 Min per frame ... for a huge 15 points ...

Just one word can describe it = Awesome...

I have my corporate laptop (T7500 (C2D) @ 2.2GHz) running the SMP client. With chewy units, the deadline is 1D 20H. With this laptop (and I do use it as it is my work laptop), I make the preferred deadlines (1 day 20 hours) with about 8 hours to spare. Sometimes I cut it closer to 5 hours to spare if I actually have to work. With non-chewies, I'm able to complete WU in 1 day 4 hours.

Temps were a concern, but I've got my "lifted" via a targus notebook stand I boot eons ago. The cooler would help tremendously, but my corporate laptop doesn't deserve the expenditure. If this were a personal laptop, then yes the cooler would already be here.

Awesome indeed..... and I have mastered the fine art of consistently picking them up on my borged boxen:D

And not as if it hasen't been said enough... but your temps are good..

 
I'm running 2 504 clients on my dell D630 with a T7100 1.80GHZ and my temps don't go under 64 and the wave between 64 and 70 so yours are better than mine.
