Laptop BIOS was wiped =(

My Sony VAIO laptop has had a dead BIOS for a while now but I haven't had the time to get it checked out. This is what happened, I was updating my BIOS when it happened, the updating program errored and caused my laptop to be dead . I tried to sell the laptop on EBay when someone told me I should get it repaired and gave me an email address of a place that could reprogram the chip just as long as you sent them the chip. I thought this was great so I contacted them and was quoted $35 to reprogram my BIOS chip but I LOST THE EMAIL ADDRESS on a reformat and haven't been able to find anything. So far everyplace I've contacted want a crazy amount to repair this unit (Sony wanted $800 to replace the mobo, another place wanted to charge me $125/hr. labor and also another $175 for the part to repair it). If anyone knows of a place that can repair this Sony VAIO for cheap please let me know I'd be really greatful to youˆˆ. Thanks in advance.

That seems to be the best solution, I've heard of other people going through them and they said it was quick and definitely worth it. It's either that, send it to sony(they'd charge you 10 times the amount) or buy a new pc.

and what's really screwed up is that if you went through sony and paid the $800, they would just take your old mobo, replace the BIOS chip, then put it back in some "refurbished" laptop and make another $800 on it....
