laptop battery...is this a junker time for new one?

I have a gateway laptop at work. 80% of its time is spent plugged into a docking station.
After the last time in the station. 2 months mostly not used, I removed it and the battery said 100% 2.9 hrs.
30 seconds later it shut down.

Is the battery dead or after all this time in the station it fried or ?

before ordering a new battery I wanted to ask...trash it?

get some replacement sells and rebuild the pack

You could rebuilt the battery or pay someplace to do it for you. Other then that just buy a replacement battery.
