is silicon carbide metallurgical paper good for lapping...? is it better or worse than wet/dry sandpaper of the same grit (the silicon carbide paper is wet/dry also)...?
 
SiC paper is pretty close to your normal auto type "wet/dry" paper, which is the most common when lapping, so yes, it will work fine, so long as it is the right grit.
